Write Prompts That Get The Most Out of AI
Learn the COACH framework and leave with a concrete strategy for getting better AI outputs.
Before You Start
Goal: Learn the COACH framework and leave with a concrete strategy for getting better AI outputs.
Watch: How to Write a Prompt That Actually Works — Members are encouraged to watch beforehand, but a quick recap at the meeting works too.
Disappointing AI outputs are often the result of unclear or ineffective prompts. The COACH framework — Context, Objective, Audience, Constraints, Human Checks — gives you a simple structure for getting better results with fewer revisions.

👋 Member Updates · 10 mins
Go around your Circle and share personal updates. Keep them brief and focused on significant changes or important decisions since the last time you met. It's OK not to have one every month. If you have a One Action update from last time, share that too.
🧊 Icebreaker · 10 mins
Invite everyone in the group to share. Keep answers to one or two minutes per person.
The Human Check step of the COACH framework means you stay responsible for the thinking. What kinds of human checks do you make when using AI? Why are they important?

Write your own COACH prompt
- Think of something you need to do this week that you've considered using AI for.
- Write out a COACH prompt for it, using the template below.
- Input it into your preferred AI platform and review the output (or the start of the output, if it's long).
The COACH Template
- C — Who are you? What's happening?
- O — What exactly do you want produced?
- A — Who will read this?
- C — What to avoid? What limits apply?
- H — Read it aloud. Does it sound like you? Then refine: 'This is too formal — make it warmer.'
🏋️ Discussion · 10 mins
Discuss as a group
- How strong was the output from your COACH prompt?
- What was missed, and what could you add or change to make your prompt stronger?
🎯 One Action · 10 mins
Commit to one concrete action — big or small — you'll take before next meeting. Go around the Circle and share (1 minute or less per member). Vocalizing it helps hold each other accountable.
Take the COACH prompt you drafted in the discussion and actually run it this week. Come to the next meeting ready to share what you asked for, what you got back, and whether the Human Check changed anything.
📅 Wrap-Up · 5 mins
Before you break, plan your next meeting and close on an energetic note. Go around your Circle one by one and finish the sentence:
Now I am feeling… (choose one word).
- Set the day, time, and location
- Choose the next topic or resource
- Confirm who's leading the discussion
- Decide how you'll stay in touch in between
