Before You Start
Goal: Reflect on the experiences, values, assumptions, and support systems that shape who you are today, and share them with your Circle through a creative visual exercise.
Preparation: Bring blank sheets of paper and colored pens, pencils, or whatever creative materials you like. If meeting virtually, have everyone gather these materials ahead of time.

👋 Member Updates · 10 mins
Go around your Circle and share personal updates. Keep them brief and focused on significant changes or important decisions since the last time you met. It's OK not to have one every month. If you have a One Action update from last time, share that too.
🧊 Icebreaker · 10 mins
Invite everyone in the group to share. Keep answers to one or two minutes per person.
Share something that not many people know about you, but that has shaped who you are today: a childhood experience, a challenge you overcame, a turning point.
💡 Key Takeaways · 5 mins
This activity works because it bypasses the words we usually reach for and asks us to represent ourselves visually, which often reveals things we didn't know we were ready to say.
-
Self-reflection is a leadership practice. Understanding our own values, assumptions, and support systems makes us more intentional about we you show up for ourselves and for others.
-
Sharing builds trust within our Circle. When we let others see who we are, we create the conditions for genuine connection and belonging.
-
Our goal is building connection and self-knowledge, not artistry. This activity isn't about drawing skill; it's about reflecting on your inner self, and letting your Circle see more of who you are.
🏋️ Activity · 20 mins
Step 1: Draw your outline (3 mins) Draw a simple outline of yourself on a blank sheet of paper. Make big enough to write or draw inside.
Step 2: Add to your picture (10 mins)
Inside the outline, write or draw:
- Your values: What you stand for
- Your ambitions: Your most important goals
- Your assumptions: What you often assume about yourself
- Your anxieties: What makes you anxious
Around the outside of the outline, add:
- Your support systems: The people, communities, and resources that hold you up
Step 3: Share with the group (10 mins) Each person shares what they've created (up to 2 minutes each), holding up their picture so others can see it.
Step 4: Reflect together (3 mins) Circle leader asks for a few responses: Looking at what you all created, what stands out? What have you learned about yourself and others?
🎯 One Action · 10 mins
Commit to one concrete action — big or small — you'll take before next meeting. Go around the Circle and share (1 minute or less per member). Vocalizing it helps hold each other accountable.
Based on what you've learned about yourself today, what's one small step you'd like to take this month to help you live your values or reach your goals?
📅 Wrap-Up · 5 mins
Before you break, plan the next meeting and close on an energetic note. Go around your Circle one by one and finish the sentence:
Now I am feeling… (choose one word).
- Set the day, time, and location
- Choose the next topic or resource
- Confirm who's leading the discussion
- Decide how you'll stay in touch in between
