A letter from your future self

Before You Start

Goal: Reflect on the future you want to create, reconnect with what matters most to you, and share your vision with your Circle through a guided writing exercise.

Meeting Agenda · Approx. 60 mins

  • Member Updates · 10 mins
  • Icebreaker · 10 mins
  • Activity · 20 mins
  • One Action · 10 mins
  • Wrap-Up · 5 mins

👋 Member Updates · 10 mins

Go around your Circle and share personal updates. Keep them brief and focused on significant changes or important decisions since the last time you met. It's OK not to have one every month. If you have a One Action update from last time, share that too.

🧊 Icebreaker · 10 mins

Invite everyone in the group to share. Keep answers to one or two minutes per person.

When you were a kid, what did you dream of achieving in your future?

🏋️ Activity · 20 mins

Set the Stage (2 mins)

Introduce the prompt: Imagine you're 70 years old, and you've accomplished everything you dreamed of. Write a letter from that future self to your current self, highlighting what truly matters to you now — and offering advice on how to get there.

You might include:

  • What brings you the greatest joy or fulfillment at 70
  • The advice your future self wants your current self to follow

Writing Time (10 mins)

Everyone spends 10 focused minutes writing their letters.

Sharing Letters (15 mins)

Invite each person to read part or all of their letter (about 2–3 minutes each) and respond to these questions:

  • What's one thing you learned from writing the letter?
  • Did the letter shift how you think about your current priorities?

Encourage:

  • Active listening — no interruptions
  • Acknowledgment of each person's courage in sharing

🎯 One Action · 10 mins

Commit to one concrete action — big or small — you'll take before next meeting. Go around the Circle and share (1 minute or less per member). Vocalizing it helps hold each other accountable.

Now that you've connected with your future vision, what's one small step you'll take this month to get closer to it? Go around the Circle and share your One Action (1 minute or less each).

📅 Wrap-Up · 5 mins

Before you break, plan the next meeting and close on an energetic note. Go around your Circle one by one and finish the sentence:

Now I am feeling… (choose one word).

  • Set the day, time, and location
  • Choose the next topic or resource
  • Confirm who's leading the discussion
  • Decide how you'll stay in touch in between
