👋 Member Updates · 10 mins

Go around your Circle and share personal updates. Keep them brief and focused on significant changes or important decisions since the last time you met. It's OK not to have one every month. If you have a One Action update from last time, share that too.

🧊 Icebreaker · 10 mins

Invite everyone in the group to share. Keep answers to one or two minutes per person.

Think of a time you stepped outside your comfort zone and succeeded at something that felt like a stretch. What made you take the leap, and how did it feel afterward?

💡 Key Takeaways · 5 mins

A negative association with adrenaline can be replaced with a positive one, but it requires building a real history of success, one small win at a time.

  • Build on small successes (BOSS). Because one of the surest ways to overcome fear is through a series of small wins, the key is to identify communication tasks that range from easy to slightly uncomfortable — and do one every day.
  • Play impromptu speaking games. If finding the right words on the spot is hard, low-stakes practice with friends or in everyday situations builds real-time fluency without the pressure of a formal setting.
  • Master the core skill set. Communication excellence is not a matter of talent. It's a combination of learned skills. Strong posture, strong voice, and strong eye contact are the foundations. When you build a genuine skill set, an authentic mindset of confidence follows.
  • Comfort zone expansion is cumulative. Each time you do something that felt slightly outside your comfort zone, it expands. What felt like a stretch last month is ordinary next month.
  • Which bothers you more about public speaking: the physical sensations of anxiety, or the fear of underperforming? The answer points to where to focus your long-term practice.

BOSS Checklist Activity (20 mins)

The BOSS Checklist (""Building on Small Successes"") works by identifying a spectrum of communication tasks, from very easy to slightly uncomfortable, and committing to practicing them incrementally.

Step 1: Build your personal BOSS list (8 mins)

Individually, brainstorm a list of communication tasks across three difficulty levels. Think about speaking situations you face or could seek out:

Easy (piece of cake):

  • Say hello to someone new in a meeting
  • Ask a question in a small group
  • Share an opinion in a one-on-one conversation

Slightly outside your comfort zone:

  • Speak up first in a meeting
  • Introduce yourself to someone senior
  • Give a short update to a group of 5–10 people

A real stretch:

  • Volunteer to present at an all-hands
  • Lead a meeting you'd normally attend quietly
  • Record yourself speaking and watch it back

Write down 2–3 examples in each category that are specific to your life.

Step 2: Commit and share (8 mins)

Go around the Circle. Each person shares:

  1. One easy task they'll do in the next two days — where and when
  2. One slightly uncomfortable task they'll tackle in the next two weeks

Step 3: Pair accountability (4 mins)

Partner up. Exchange your commitments. Agree to check in with each other before the next Circle meeting to share how it went.

🎯 One Action · 10 mins

Commit to one concrete action, big or small, you'll take before next meeting.

What would you sign up for, seek out, or say yes to if you knew you could trust yourself to perform at your best?

Go around the Circle and share (1 minute or less per member). Vocalizing it helps hold each other accountable.

📅 Wrap-Up · 5 mins

Before you break, plan your next meeting and close on an energetic note. Go around your Circle one by one and finish the sentence:

Now I am feeling… (choose one word).

  • Set the day, time, and location
  • Choose the next topic or resource
  • Confirm who's leading the discussion
  • Decide how you'll stay in touch in between
